The Parish of Stone, Dinton and Hartwell is believed to be 38 square km in area and is part of the Wychert Vale Benefice. The parish comprises around 9 discrete settlements some historic e.g. Ford, Bishopstone, Hartwell, Sedrup, Gibralter, Dinton, Westlington, Upton and other more modern development patterns in Stone and Dinton. The parish is thus more ‘rural’ in the sense of separated communities with little services than might at first be assumed. The communities are ‘federated’ by two parish councils Stone and Dinton. Also by having two church schools Stone and what is now Dinton with Cuddington.
